(1 September 2019 – Abu Dhabi – United Arab Emirates)

Samaya Specialized Center today announced that it has earned Joint Commission International’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Ambulatory Care Accreditation with an impressive two partially met measurable elements by demonstrating continuous compliance with its internationally-recognized standards. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. This is the second time that the center has received the Gold Seal of Approval® after being audited by the JCI. The first time was in 2016 when Samaya applied for their first accreditation with this esteemed organization. The remarkable rating that the center received in this year’s JCI survey is parallel to its 98.19 percentile ranking audit score in the Department of Health Abu Dhabi Audit Report when Samaya was audited in April 2019.

Samaya Specialized Center underwent a rigorous on-site survey on July 7-11, 2019. During the survey, a team of Joint Commission International expert surveyors evaluated compliance with ambulatory care standards related to a variety of areas, including the International Patient Safety Goals, patient assessment and care, anesthesia and surgical care, medication management, patient and family education, quality improvement, infection prevention and control, governance and leadership, facility management, staff qualifications and education, and information management.

“Joint Commission International accreditation provides ambulatory care organizations with the processes contributing to improvements in a variety of areas from the enhancement of staff education to the demonstration of leading practices within the ambulatory setting,” said Paul Chang, MD, MBA, MPH, CPHQ, FACHE, Vice President, Accreditation, Standards, and Measurement, Joint Commission International. “We commend Samaya Specialized Center for its efforts to become a quality improvement organization, and achieving this pinnacle demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and quality.”
